Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) Operational Agreement
FMD is a highly contagious viral disease that affects all cloven-hoofed animals, such as cattle, sheep, pigs, goats and deer.
Under GIA Biosecurity NZ, Dairy NZ, DCANZ, BLNZ, MIA, NZ Pork and Deer Industry NZ are working together to develop an Operational Agreement (OA) for FMD.
The OA will specify how the parties will work in partnership to enhance FMD biosecurity risk management across the biosecurity system and meet the GIA Deed commitments for joint decision-making and cost-sharing for readiness and response activities.
